Willajean Geraldine Hawk Logan was born July 29, 1938 in Cassville, MO. and passed away peacefully June 3, 2016 in the Aurora Nursing Center.
She lived with her grandparents the first few years of her life where she learned to milk a cow and ride a horse. She loved horses and always wanted one of her own. Willajean played the saxophone and was in Glee Club while in high school graduating from North Kansas City, MO.
Willajean married Lawrence Logan of Monett, MO. and he preceded her in death in 1999. Willajean and Lawrence were not blessed with children. She will be missed by family and friends.
Willajean was very active and loved to go any place. She and Lawrence traveled to the West Coast and all the stops in between. She was an IBM Keypunch operator for Sears and later for a bank in Kansas City. Willajean had a brain aneurysm that resulted in a stroke in 1976. She continued to be very active and loved to play games and work puzzles. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Willajean continued to reside in Kansas City following the death of her husband and came to Aurora to live with her aunt Tennie shortly after her mother passed away in 2003. Willajean later moved to Hudson House and after breaking her hip, moved to Aurora Nursing Center till her death. Willajean or Jean as she preferred, made many friends and was well loved by staff and residents.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 8 at 9:30 a.m. in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.. A memorial service will be held at the Aurora Nursing Center, 1700 S. Hudson, Aurora, MO. on Tuesday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m. Steve Thompson will be conducting both services.
