Wanda was born on Monday, August 12, 1935, the oldest of two daughters to Oscar (Ott) and Lela (Williams) Grimmett. Wanda walked thru heaven’s gate rejoicing on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the age of 86. Wanda was united in marriage to Harold E. L. Dean in November 1955 and were bless with 2 daughters of their own: Kathy & Karen. Wanda was an excellent seamstress, there was nothing she couldn’t make either by hand or with her sewing machine, clothing, drapery, boat seats and of her last big projects was designing and making old fashion pioneer sunbonnets for Knotts Berry Farm in California. She also loved to crochet, working on word search puzzles and had a passion for reading. After Harold’s passing in 1985, Wanda was married to Neal Weatherman. They celebrated 32 years of marriage last year. Wanda is preceded in death by her father – Ott, her mother – Lela, husband, Harold Dean and a host of family and friends. She is survived by husband – Neal Weatherman of the home, sister Reva Chambers, daughters Kathy Smith and Karen Dean. Grandchildren, Eric Smith (wife Larissa), Austin Porterfield, Kelsey Stewart, Ethan Porterfield. Great Grandchildren, Blake Stewart, Granger Smith, Ella Stewart, and Daxon Porterfield. She is also survived by a loving extended family and numerous friends. The family wishes to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at the Mt. Vernon Three Rivers Hospice for the care and compassion extended to Wanda especially in the last few day of her journey with her family.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, January31 at 2:00 p.m. in the Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Mt. Vernon.

Visitation will be held Monday from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.
