Sylvia Freda Smith departed this life on February 11, 2018, to meet her true passion, Jesus Christ, and be re-united with her daughter Connie, and her many loved ones that have gone on before.
She was born on February 6, 1920, to John F. and Alvina Conn.
Sylvia had three siblings, Lucille Childress, Eugene Conn, and Marvin Conn. She married Jesse Lee Smith and out of that union came Connie Lee Smith. She later remarried S.H. Thomas and was blessed with a stepson, Gene Thomas, and stepdaughter, Goldie Brashers.
She was a member of the Aurora Fundamental Methodist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She owned and operated Northtown Beauty Shop in Aurora and loved to do hair. She also worked at shoe factories in Marionville and Aurora. She enjoyed many activities, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and painting but none made her happier than feeding the ones she loved and ensuring everyone knew their salvation. If you are here today, you know she loved you and nothing was more important to her than knowing your salvation and introducing you to Jesus.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, stepchildren, husbands, and all siblings. She loved all her sister’s and brothers families, all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and all her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Aurora Fundamental Methodist Church under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the church.
