Kenneth Edward Young, 100, of Marionville passed away Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Mt. Vernon Place Care Center.
He was born to John and Lenora Vansickle Young on April 16, 1921 in Oxford, KS. He was a retired auto mechanic and a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He grew up in Kansas and Missouri. He served in the Navy during WW II on a ship in the Pacific. He witnessed the testing of the atomic bomb in the Bikini Atoll. After the service he married Luwelta Williams of Fair Play, MO. and they resided in Marionville. He and Luwelta were married 68 years before her passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Luwelta; two brothers, Wendell and Dale Young; and two sisters, Louis Marks and Arlene Potts.
Survivors include his two children, Paul Young and Margie Thompson both of Aurora; two brothers, Lloyd Young of Memphis, TN and Carol Young of Marionville; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Monday, August 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full military honors under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
