Peterson Funeral Chapel

Josephus (Joe) Madewell, 84, of Aurora passed away in his home May 14, 2022 while under the care of Good Shephard Hospice. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was born November 9, 1937 in Stone County, Missouri to Joe and Georgia (Medlin) Madewell. He married Linda Wheeler on June 20, 1959 in the home of Reverend Cecil Daniels of Willard, MO.

Joe had many jobs in his lifetime, but the one he loved the most was working for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He enjoyed raising registered Gelbvieh cattle while on the farm. He also enjoyed keeping bees and gardening. He always shared the bounty from his garden with family and friends.

He loved the Lord and his family. He always put his family before himself, making sure had everything they needed.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; daughter, Kristy of Forsyth; son, Michael of Verona; grandchildren, James Michael Von Hauenstein of Phenix City, AL., and Jackie Barnhart of Forsyth; great-grandson, Bryson Von Hauenstein of Phenix City, AL.; sister, Nan Eutsler of Aurora and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy, Washie, John Henry, and Bobby; and sisters, Vesta Chambers and Juanita Earhart.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, May 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.

No visitation is planned. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church in Aurora.
