Harlen Dobyns, 93, of Marionville, formerly of Aurora passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 in the Ozarks Methodist Manor in Marionville after a short illness.
He was born on January 12, 1922 in Mt. Vernon to Will and Rosa Dobyns.
Harlen married the late Irene Basham on October 12, 1943 and together they had 5 children. On June 8, 1974 Harlen married Dorothy Roberts. They shared 41 years enjoying life and traveling.
Harlen was in the Army and served in the Philippines during World War II. He worked over 35 years at Juvenile Shoe Factory in Aurora until his retirement in 1987 as a mechanic.
Harlen is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters, Linda Cox and husband, Jim of Aurora, Mary Garner and husband, Dale of Miller and Diane Orr and husband, Danny of Aurora; 1 son, Mike Dobyns and wife, Becky of Aurora; 2 step-sons, George Roberts and wife, Donna of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Dennis Roberts of Wichita, KS.; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene; his parents; brothers, George, Bud, Henry and Leroy Dobyns; sisters, Bircha Wolfenbarger and Ethel Dobyns and 1 infant son, Mark.
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Prayer service will be held Tues. at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
