Elbert Leroy Alexander, 82, of Aurora passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield.
He was born August 19, 1935 in Granger, WA. Elbert worked for the Labor Local #663 until his retirement. He loved his family, fishing, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and bowling.
He married Dorothy Napier on October 5, 1957 in Wichita, KS. and she survives. Other survivors include seven children, Shirley Branham of Aurora; Sharon Jones and husband, Randy of Mtn. Home, AR., Doris Gilmore and husband, Joe of Aurora, Betty Pointer and husband, Nathan of Aurora, Elbert Alexander and wife, Julie of Springfield, Howard Alexander and wife Sherri of Aurora and Donna Hyde and husband, Matt of Pierce City; 5 sisters, Leanna Lucas of Fair Grove, Shirley Stilley of Hootentown, Linda Hart of Woodburn, OR., Sherry Reeder of Woodburn, OR. and Shirley Block of Weir, KS.; 34 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews and family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Iva Kimball and his step-father, Hobart Kimball who loved, cared for and raised him; his father, Orthel Alexander; two sisters, Janet Monehan and Donna Burks; and one grandson, Austin Lee Foster.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 12 at 11:00 a.m. in the Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
