On Thursday afternoon, October 25, surrounded by his devoted wife, loving daughters and dearest grandchildren, Donald W. Brown of Aurora, Missouri, was peacefully called home to meet his Lord and Savior where he was reunited with his closest friends and brothers Grover Brown, James Brown, George Brown and Joe Brown, sisters Elda Kelley and Vesta Dean, and mother and father, Nubern and Emma Brown.
Don was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and friend who was innately passionate about his family and always putting their needs above his own. Don was a celebrated and honorary veteran having served in the Korean War from 1952-1954 and earning the special privilege of escorting Marilyn Monroe during her tour to visit and play for the troops.
He leaves behind his best friend and God-given soulmate, Gloria Brown, AKA, ‘Squirt’ or ‘Squirrely,’ as called by Don. Don and Squirt are the epitome of what it means to have a marriage filled with happiness and real, true love. Don and Squirt recently celebrated 62 years.
Don also leaves behind four daughters and spouses, eight grand kids, nine great-grandkids and four great-great-grandkids.
His oldest daughter is Donna Newberry of Marionville, Missouri, and spouse Stan Newberry. Donna and Stan have three daughters, Shelly Mitchell who is married to Lindell Mitchell, Amy Segura married to Vince Segura and Lindsey Lathrop. Shelly and Lindell have two children, Ryan Mitchell married to Kaylee Mitchell with their children Tinlee, Briar and one on the way, and Britney Paul who is married to Fred Paul with their son Ethan. Amy, second oldest daughter to Donna, and Vince have two children, Isabella and Avianna.
Don’s second daughter is Teresa Denney of Marionville, Missouri. Teresa has two sons, Jerad Denney married to Ashley Denney, and Zack Denney with daughter Brodey.
Don’s third daughter is Lisa Levingston married to James Levingston of Pierce City, Missouri. Lisa and Jim have two daughters, Rachael Jackson married to Jordan Jackson with their sons Julian, Declan and London, and Chelsey Parker married to Andrew Parker.
Don’s youngest daughter is Melissa Custer and partner Mark Berry. Missy has one son, Rusty Brown, and one granddaughter.
Don’s legacy will carry on for many years to come.
Don’s 86 years of life will be celebrated with a visitation on Sunday, October 28, 2-4 pm followed by a funeral on Monday, October 29, 11 am at Peterson’s Funeral Home in Aurora, Missouri.
