Peterson Funeral Chapel

Darin Kent Stone was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. He left this life entirely too soon at the age of 58, on June 5th, 2021.

Darin was born on July 7, 1962 to Kennith and Vicky Stone in Branson, Missouri. He moved to Aurora, MO in 1969, where his family lived and farmed. He married his wife, Donna, on July 11, 1982, in Aurora, Missouri and had three children, Derica, Dayla, and Dustin, of whom he was so proud.

Darin was an avid Chiefs fan, and always said his one wish in life was to see them win the Super Bowl. He loved playing golf with his son, Dustin, and was happiest outside at his fire pit spending quiet evenings with his beloved wife of almost 40 years. He was the rare person who truly loved his job and his family of coworkers. He enjoyed the long hours driving his route - spent calling his friends and family to tell them of his road adventures, his silly jokes, his deep thoughts, or just to talk about life. He loved his Kansas City Hyvee shopping trips with his son-in-laws, Parker and Luke, talking Chiefs with his daughter, Dayla, and having spirited conversations with his daughter, Derica.

Darin inherited his wild imagination from his mother, Vicky. He created a very special place where trolls come out to play at nighttime and leave gifts for his grandchildren if they pay the toll (a quarter - which had to be provided by their parents) placed in a boot at the base of a hollowed out tree.  The Troll Tree will forever be a place where his grandchildren can go to spend time with their PopPop, and if they are lucky, catch a glimpse of the trolls.

Darin is survived by his wife, Donna, of Aurora; his daughters Derica (Parker) Anderson of Overland Park, Kansas; and Dayla (Luke) Kempfer of Springfield, Missouri; a son, Dustin (Sarah) Stone of Battlefield, Missouri; and his much loved grandchildren Cohen and Cael Anderson, and Kenlee and Karver Kempfer.  He is also survived by his sister Debbie (Kevin) Newbold and his brother Tracy (Jacqueline) Stone, both of Aurora, along with his nephews, nieces and many friends.

Darin is preceded in death by his father, Kennith Stone, and his mother, Vicky Stone.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11 at 5:00 p.m. in the Elm Branch Christian Church under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
Visitation will be held Friday from 3:30 p.m. until service time in the church.
Darin was incredibly loved, and will leave a void in the lives of so many.  He will be so very missed.
