Charles Ed Burleson, 84, of Aurora passed away Wednesday, August 24 at the Lawrence County Manor in Mt. Vernon.
He was born to Arthur and Bessie Smart Burleson on May 15, 1938 in Pyatt, AR.
Charles Burleson was a Son, Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle Grandfather, and Great-grandfather. He was an avid sportsman, fisherman, hunter, gardner, and bowler. He served our country in the Army as an MP and trained military guard dogs. He liked to watch birds in the backyard and had many birdhouses for them. He loved to raise his own garden and had plentiful tomatoes, green beans, okra, etc. In his younger years he was in a band, played piano, and sang. He was very good at drawing.
He is survived by his wife Mary Alice Lambert Burleson, his children Bobby Burleson, Brenda Burleson Underwood, Charlotte Campbell, Christina Burleson Haskins, Jeffery Burleson; his Brother Ray Burleson; and Sister-in-law Marilyn Pauline Farquer Burleson.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Arthur Burleson; Mother, Bessie Smart Burleson; Grandson Casey Burleson; Brother-in-law Sonny Garrison; Sister Billie Lou Burleson Garrison; Niece Vicky Schmitdke and husband Mike Schmidtke, Sister-in-law Marilyn Hancock Burleson; and Brother Jerry Burleson.
He has 12 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Aurora United Methodist Church under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday from 12:00 p.m. until service time in the church.
