Peterson Funeral Chapel

            ​Burl Darrell Baum, 69, of Aurora passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, near his home in a tractor accident.           

           Burl was born to Roland and Emma Berry Baum on January 11, 1952, in McDowell, MO. Burl was an Eagle Scout and joined the Air Force after high school. When he returned he built custom homes and later specialized in custom cabinets. He loved history, learning and mentoring. He refurbished old cars, trucks and old tractors. He collected Frisco, Indian and Kansas City Chief memorabilia, including an extensive arrowhead collection.            

           Survivors include his wife, Dianne; two sons, Travis Baum (Kathy) of Fremont, NH and Matt Richardson of Springfield, MO; one daughter, Tara Richardson of Columbia, MO; three brothers, Al Baum of Roanoke, VA, Fred Baum of Aurora, MO and Rex Baum of Diamond, MO; four sisters, Maxine Wolfe (Bill) of Springfield, MO, Mary Ann Thomas of Mt. Vernon, MO, Judy Mooneyham (Darrell) of Aurora, MO and Donna Freiburger (Paul) of Aurora, MO; and 4 grandchildren, Marcus Baum, Alice Baum, Scarlett Hoos and Xavier Hoos.          

           He was preceded in death by his parents.          

           Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11 at 11:30 a.m. in the Aurora United Methodist Church with Pastor Charlene Dart officiating under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Park Cemetery with full Military Honors.            

           Visitation will be held Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the church.​           

            In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the local VFW in care of the funeral home.
