Peterson Funeral Chapel

            Awta Faye Hubbard, 86 of Aurora, MO was welcomed into the arms of her savior at 11:25 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO.
Awta Faye was born on December 30, 1929, in Lawrence County to Floyd and Awta Beck.
            She is survived by William “Bill“ Hubbard of Aurora, her husband of 62 years. Other survivors include: two daughters, Willa Lyon of Rogers, Arkansas and Shellie Schnelle of Independence, MO and her husband Mike, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Floyd Beck and wife Donna of Nixa and Thomas Beck and wife Catherine of Mt. Vernon plus several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
            Saved at a young age, Awta Faye served her Lord and Savior with much passion. She lived her life loving Jesus and taught in the public school system for 42 years. She served in a variety of Sunday School and church roles, loving any area of service that involved caring for and teaching children. She was also active in the Gideon organization, as well as a past president of the Lawrence County Republican Women’s Committee.

            A loving wife, kind and fun mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Awta Faye will be missed on this earth beyond words but we are confident we will see her again in heaven.
            Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 12 at 2:00 p.m. in the Aurora Baptist Temple under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Maple Park Cemetery.

            Visitation will be held Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Awana Children’s Program at Aurora Baptist Temple, Aurora MO.
