Amanda Gifford born Amanda Irene Cloud to David Houston "Huse" and Chloe M. Cloud (Rhoden) on November 17, 1936 in Carole County, AR. She wore out her earthly body and was called to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ five days short of her 81st birthday on November 12, 2017.
She was preceded in death by both her father and mother; infant sister, Sarah Elizabeth; two brother-in-laws, Paul Mounce and Web White and one nephew, Floyd White.
She is survived by two sons, J.C. Howard (Debbie) and their family, Waylon, Wayne (Kim), Case (Christa), and Colt (Juli); and David Simpson and his family, Matheau (Terri); two sisters, Lois Mounce and her family, Paulaetta (Bill), Danny (Pat), and Wanda (David); Hazel White and her family, Dale White; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews.
Amanda as a young woman worked as a "Proud" server for Cozy Cafe, The Farm House, Verns Burger Bar and the Bank Hotel Restaurants, Jim Carr Oil Co. and later in life in home health care for St. John's/Mercy Hospital. One of our favorite stories about Amanda/Mom/Bam Ma is she loved taking the back roads anywhere and she was stopped on one backroad by a State Highwat Trooper for speeding. Her license plate read JESUS1 and she told us when the officer gave her the ticket she witnessed about her Lord and Savior to him fro 20 minutes. I'm sure the Trooper Radioed ahead to "just let JESUS1 to pass on by."
Graveside services will be held Thursday, November 16 at 3:00 p.m. in the Maple Park Cemetery under the care of Peterson Funeral Chapel.
